Looking Ahead to 2022–2023: New Hires and Staffing Changes
It is with great honor and pleasure that the Faculty announces the hiring of Ikhlasah "Iki" Woodburn (she/her) as the Class Teacher for the Class of 2030. Ms. Woodburn brings a calm, warm, presence to the classroom, a strong connection to the arts and sciences, and a clear commitment to child-centered education and life-long learning.
Ms. Woodburn's journey to joining the WSP Faculty has included working for many years as a professional singer in Europe (she is originally from the UK), and a biology tutor, and she is currently a paraprofessional in the Pine-Richland School District. She learned of Waldorf Education while getting her Master of Arts Teaching (MAT) at Chatham University. Ms. Woodburn especially appreciates the developmentally appropriate approach of Waldorf Education, and the marriage of the arts and sciences in the classroom. With an undergraduate degree in Psychology and a second Masters in Special Education, Ms. Woodburn has a keen interest in understanding how students interact, what hinderances they might experience, and finding collaborative and creative ways to support them. She brings a joyful, thoughtful presence to the classroom, and she holds herself to high expectations of dedication and care in her relationships with families and students. We are very excited for Ms. Woodburn to join us as a colleague and community member!
Beginning in the Fall of 2022, WSP violin and music chair Ms. Kathleen Andrews (she/her) will transition to lead the strings program at WSP. In this Full Faculty position, Ms. Andrews will teach violin, viola, and cello to Grades 3–8. In younger grades, this will be three independent classes for each instrument and in older grades it will be in an ensemble format. We are very happy to welcome Ms. Andrews to the Full Faculty and Grades Faculty circles!
We are pleased to announce Maribeth Hagley will move from Little Friends Assistant to Little Friends Lead Teacher as Laura Philips transitions to Morning Garden Transition Lead Teacher. Tobias Foglia will also be moving from the Yellow House to Morning Garden Transition to assist Laura.
