Rose Ceremony

We welcome our first graders as they begin their journey through the grades at the Waldorf School of Pittsburgh!

The Rose Ceremony is a long tradition in Waldorf schools around the world. This special assembly marks the beginning of a journey through the grades for the first graders who are welcomed to the grade school by our oldest students, the eighth graders. In a ceremony held this afternoon, each eighth grade student shared words of advice and wishes for the class of 2029, and then presented each first grader with a rose—a flower that starts as a seed and grows into a complex and beautiful flower.
