Keep Moving Forward

A Letter from Our Head of School

Dear WSP Families,

Today is the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. This year, we honor his life and legacy on Monday, January 18. There are many ways we can honor Dr. King in our own homes or neighborhoods, and we hope your day is filled with conversations, celebrations, and service as we work for equality, representation, and fairness for all. Teachers have shared some resources with families such as such as online offerings through the Kelly Strayhorn Theater, as well as the story of Stevie Wonder’s ‘Happy Birthday’ MLK tribute.

We keep moving forward with our preparations for a return to campus on Thursday, January 21. As noted last week, additional air filters for classrooms have been ordered and should arrive by January 20.

Pennsylvania has begun Phase 1A of the distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine. School employees are currently scheduled to be in the next phase, Phase 1B. WSP held an information session for our employees yesterday about the COVID-19 vaccines. Dr. Chris Johnston, Chief Medical Officer for Pinnacle Treatment Centers, joined us to offer information and answer questions about the two vaccines currently being distributed. We are still waiting to hear when PA will move into Phase 1B, but we are so grateful for the valuable information we received yesterday. Many thanks to parent, Ian Winter, for orchestrating this opportunity!

I wish each of our families the strength and courage to keep moving forward into a year filled with hope and positive change. Warmly, Kirsten Christopherson-Clark Head of School
