Introducing: Waldorf Wednesdays
We are excited to announce a new offering, Waldorf Wednesdays, for newly accepted, applicant, and existing WSP families. These virtual gatherings will take place on Wednesday evenings via Zoom, be led by WSP faculty and staff with support from members of the community, and will cover a variety of topics related to Waldorf education.
Register today for Run, Jump, Play, Teams! on March 22nd from 7–7:45pm with Ang Illar and Christina Chirdon-Jones. Zoom link to be shared upon registration. Topics covered will include:
How our curriculum supports healthy movement, physical fitness and development, starting in all our Early Childhood Programs through Eighth Grade
A peek into our developmental focus of curriculum including our Grades PE, after school sports, and middle school teams
An invigorating discussion beneficial to parents and guardians of children of all ages at WSP
Christina has joyfully served as a WSP kindergarten teacher for over a decade. A certified Waldorf Education Early Childhood teacher with a M.A. in Education, Christina will provide valuable insights into how children under 6 learn "through their limbs" and the importance of movement and play in Waldorf Education in the younger years. In addition to her work in kindergarten, Christina is our middle school cross country coach. A life-long runner and a collegiate athlete in cross country/track and field, Christina works with our middle schoolers to help develop a love of running and has been instrumental in creating our robust cross country team.
Ang began teaching Games and PE at WSP in 2012, and directed WSP summer camps for several years. In addition to being our current 8th Grade Teacher, she teaches 5th–8th Grade Physical Education, First Grade Games, and is WSP's Athletics Director. As a Registered Somatic Movement Therapist (RSMT), she is passionate about movement as a way to unlock human potential. Ang serves as the coach for WSP's Ultimate Frisbee team and leads WSP's Snow-sports Program. Ang is excited to share her knowledge with parents about what makes our WSP's physical education and sports programs unique and central to the well-being for WSP students.
