About the Event

This year’s Annual Fund kick-off is on Friday, September 30th, coinciding with our Michaelmas celebration. Our theme, Reflect. Rekindle. Renew. is inspired by this time of year when we reflect on the depth of our ideals as a school community, when we rekindle their vibrancy, and we renew our strength in meeting these ideals within ourselves and with one another.

WSP is committed to fully developing the human potential of each and every child enrolled here. Waldorf Education fosters each child’s capacity to become an independent thinking, compassionate, courageous, and purposeful human being.

Every dollar donated to the Annual Fund counts and provides us with the resources we need to foster our students’ inspired learning. May we celebrate the gifts that the Waldorf School of Pittsburgh reflects, rekindles, and renews in our students and beyond!

Annual Fund Kick-off and Michaelmas Schedule

Parents and guardians are invited to drop off Annual Fund donations beginning in the morning at drop-off, or stop by sometime during the day to join us outdoors for a variety of Michaelmas activities. We will have a table set up at the Cob Oven until 3:30pm.

Below is the schedule of events. We can't wait to see you on campus that day!

8:00–8:45am | Cob Oven

Refreshments, Bulb Planting, and Dye Cafe

  • Grab a cup of coffee prepared by WSP's Administrative Team and enjoy a morning treat provided by the Board of Trustees as you stop by the table where Bob Roberson will be accepting donations to the Annual Fund.
  • Visit WSP Handwork Teacher Sarah Louise's Dye Cafe where she will walk you through the process of dying silk with natural pigments found in plants.
  • Pick up a daffodil bulb and small shovel, and enjoy planting on campus with your children. Daffodils are chosen because of their star shape—a symbol connected to Michaelmas.

8:45–9:15am | Grade 6 Classroom

An Adults Only Sharing & Artistic Activity with Morning Garden Class Teacher, Brigitte Ryan

You are warmly invited to come together with other members of our community to contemplate the inner gestures of this time of year and of the festival of Michaelmas in light of anthroposophy and the path of inner development. There will be an opportunity for individual and collective reflection, and we will conclude our time together with a simple exercise using clay. We will meet in the 6th grade classroom.

1:15–2:40 | Grades Play Yard

Grades 1–5 Games of Courage Watch children in grades 1–5 participate in the Games of Courage on the Grades Play Yard. Parents and family members are welcome to attend.

1:15–3:30 | Cob Oven

8th Grade Bake Sale

Visit the 8th grade bake sale to enjoy a tasty treat in support of the Class of 2023. All proceeds benefit the 8th grade end-of-year class trip!

1:30–2:30 | Heartwood Annex

Staves and Fencing Demonstration

Take in the staves and fencing demonstration presented by Grades 7 and 8 on the Heartwood Annex stage. All are welcome and encouraged to watch.
